St Leonards Farm Barn
Originally a traditional dairy farm on the outskirts of St Leonards, the farm has in recent years been transformed to provide both camping and traditional 'park home' accommodation(s) - albeit still entered from (and focussed upon) the original farm courtyard. Currently served via a visitor reception area within a temporary mobile home/cabin, proposals sought to create as 'built for purpose' new home to provide reception/cafe and shop facilities and opportunities to further enhance the experience.
Located beneath and within the traditional oak structure and roof of the main agricultural storage barn, the challenge was to integrate the new within the space to realise a facility with charm and integrity whilst retaining visual and graphic reference to its farming roots. The proposals indicate a timber framed structure with external timber facing to retain the feel, with large glazed apertures to flood the interiors with natural light and promote customer interactions.
