Fairlie

Faced with an uninspiring 1960's brick faced bungalow, with little intrinsic character, the owners at FAIRLIE sought to re-orientate the property away from a scenario in which main spaces viewed to the street, presenting little or no interaction with the private amenity to the rear.

The design solution was to simply extend the existing secondary gable into the garden to provide the required Kitchen/Dining/ Living volume(s) with a vaulted interior creating a feel of light, space and drama previously absent from the property as a whole. Consequent positive impacts to the provision of the new space is evidenced by the 'giving back' of current living footprint to improve entrance and transitional spaces enjoying continuous views and glimpse of the landscape beyond.
