Within the grounds of the Victorian host dwelling, UPPER KNIGHTSBRIDGE reflects current trends towards multi-generational living. Designed for the client's daughter and partner, proposals seek to replace the current outbuildings with a new, highly sustainable home designed under Lifetime Homes standards to accommodate their changing requirements as their family develops. As the existing structures were single storey, the design approach was to utilise the current footprint for the main vaulted Kitchen/Dining/Living spaces - introducing a 2 storey, split level element at the far end to house bedroom and bathroom spaces - the split level also minimising potential impact of scale from within and outwith the site.
