Walney Island Health Centre
Drawing together a series of disperate existing practices on the island, the new health centre sought to provide a "one stop shop" for health care for its residents. The location was to be central to the island, off the main arterial route, and adjacent to the local library and associated community facilities.
The design approach was to create 2 wings of 3 consulting rooms and end multi-purpose volumes, with a large curved reception and waiting area. The architecture was a mix of traditional red brick and white render, reflecting the mix of 1930's and 1950's design evidenced in community building(s) on the island.
