Poulner Farmhouse
Poulner Farmhouse is a listed dwelling on the outskirts of Ringwood towards the National Parks Boundary. The original farmhouse dates from the 17th Century and evidences a 19th century 2 storey extension, along with a less successful 20th century flat roof addition.
Our proposals seek to replace the flat roof addition with a new contemporary design as a contrast to the original heritage character. Conceived as a visually and structurally 'dislocated/separated', the primary element is effectively a modern 'pod' structure with a glazed link forming the link along the two elevations where new meets old.
Whilst fenestration treatment further enhances the contemporary feel, the proposed use of dark stained timber cladding bears reference to the timber framing employed in the farmhouse.
