Stroud Assisted Living

Stroud Assisted Living is located on the perimeter of the Industrial Heritage Area of the town with the main arterial route into town (Cainscross Road) to the frontage and dramatic drop down in levels to the rear towards the canal basin. To reflect the two differeing aspects and character(s), it can be seen that as the building addresses Cainscross Road, it displays a formal reinterpretation of the town house vernacular evidenced further into town; whilst to the rear as it addresses the canal, the building form cascades to respond to the drop in topography.

This reduces the perceived visual massing from the heritage area and also presents the potential for feature walkout balconies to apartments, enjoying the aspect and view across the canal to the open lands beyond.
