Wharncliffe
Located in Hichcliffe, Christchurch Wharncliffe was a 1970's detached brick house which - whilst substantial in footprint - was beginning to feel a little outdated. It was also of traditional design layout (Lounge focussing towards the rear) which, other than a first floor terrace which was seldom used outside the summer season, did not take full advantage of the open view to the sea and The Needles to the front.

At RiB ARCHITECTURE, our design sought to remedy this scenario via the introduction of a new upper level - contemporary in scale and design to sit more comfortably with the ever proliferating flatted developments along the street.

Open and free flowing internally, the concept was that the space could be flexible to face the future needs of the family - in the first instance however, providing the ideal light filled volumes for the artist clients.
